The Dow Is Down by 4% – Portfolio Goes Into Negative Region!

October 11, 2018

The stock market kinda ‘crashed’ today, with the Dow down by 4%.

Back in January, my investment portfolio is up by close to 40% and today, because of Facebook and Tencent, it’s at negative 5%.

Interesting to see how the stock market goes.

First, we have Facebook, which is hit by the recent data breach incident and them missing their earnings in the recent quarter earnings. Then, we have Tencent, another of my core holdings, dropping 30% because of the recent trade wars, gaming regulation in China, and them missing the quarterly earnings as well.

It’s so interesting to see how things played out.

So, how am I feeling right now?

To be honest, kinda shitty – but I know it’s all part of investing.

It’s all cycles, and the hardest part about investing is all about ‘holding’.

From a investing and business prospective, it kinda presented another opportunity for me.

Do I think Facebook will be around for the next 10 years? – Yes

Do I think Tencent will be around for the next 10 years? – Yes

So here goes the test of time… and the lesson:

“Buy a business that will last, not because it is doing well right now…”

Let’s visit this post when all the dust has settled in the next 2 – 3 years.

and we’ll see.
