A Legend – Kobe Bryant (1978 – 2020)

27 Jan 2020, 6am…

I woke up from my sleep.

The first thing I did, was to check on my phone for any new messages.

It was only the third day of the Lunar New Year, and today was suppose to be an off day for most Singaporeans.

The message was a link, sent by one of my business partner. It read “Kobe Bryant, 41, dies in helicopter crash…”

At first, I couldn’t believe what I’ve read. Is this another hoax?

Kobe Bryant?

Immediately, I went to on to read the article and did a further check on its accuracy…

It has been 4 days since the news broke out… and I still have a hard time accepting that one of the greatest athlete is gone.

To me, he is one of the most hardworking person you can find. One of the toughest guy to ever take the court.

Someone who has been my inspiration since Michael Jordan’s retirement, and someone whom I modeled my game after…

Defense, Offense, Mentality, IQ… he has it all..

My idol…

Although I am still in grief over his passing…

I think it’s more important to reflect on what Kobe stands for. What he tries to inspire the world to be…

I think he would want that…

Here are some inspiring quotes from the legend himself…

Everything negative – pressure, challenges – is all an opportunity for me to rise

Great things come from hard work and perseverance. No excuses

I’m reflective only in the sense that I learn to move forward. I reflect with a purpose.

Those times when you get up early and you work hard, those times when you stay up late and you work hard, those times when you don’t feel like working, you’re too tired, you don’t want to push yourself, but you do it anyway. That is actually the dream. That’s the dream. It’s not the destination, it’s the journey. And if you guys can understand that, then what you’ll see happen is you won’t accomplish your dreams, your dreams won’t come true; something greater will

Life is short…

and you never know what’s going to happen next.

Tomorrow, next month, or next year…

So let your loved ones know how much they meant to you…

and get back to working hard on that dream. I am going to make life worth its worth while I am still breathing…

Rest well, Kobe…
