Have you ever heard of an internet marketer who actually earns enough to buy a plane ? Well, I am lucky to know one. his name is Fabian Lim, CEO of Click Media and Click Events. Not only does he own the plane… he actually flies it around for regional business trips and travels.

With Wei Chan

Few weeks ago, my very good friend and business mentor, Ken Chee and I had this very lucky treat by Fabian to fly to Melaka just to have lunch. Yes… its a to and fro trip. Basically, we simply just flew to Melaka, have lunch, and fly back to Singapore.

Pretty awesome isn’t it ?

On this trip, I also get to know another awesome and young entrepreneur by the name of Wei Chan, who is the Business Development Director for Pine Garden’s Cake.

You see, business relationship is extremely important.. and that’s how networking really comes into play. More so, remember that your network is also your net worth… the more successful people you hang out with, the more successful people you will get to know and learn from.

of course when the opportunity presents itself, you may indeed get a break through in your own life, or whatever you wish to achieve through these networks.

another little thing that I get extremely jealous and yet at the same time, find it extremely brilliant, is that Fabian owning a plane, is the ultimate networking tool.

Forget about golf… can you imagine getting on a private plane and flying to other regional countries for lunch or dinner ? In this entire journey, you can talk about business, build relationship with big names and CEOs who are sure to be impressed by you and the experience.

and if you were to combine it with golf… it really is the ultimate. – Don’t forget the law of reciprocity.. which will play a heavy role down here in whatever that will be boiled down.

So.. to me.. its brilliant. =)

My question today is, what do you have to make that “ultimate networking tool” ?

Now… while you ponder in thoughts… heres a little nice video of the short 4 hours trip. Enjoy…

I have been to a lot of countries and stayed in a lot of hotels. Nothing really beats hotels that comes with an awesome view. My wife and I was in for a treat when we spend our weekend at the Ritz Carlton Singapore.

Now, Ritz Carlton is the only 6 star hotel in Singapore and so.. we do expect a lot from their service. Good thing is, I am a guy who is “easy to please” lol.. and was really delighted with the service during the check in. And oh.. by the way.. they also do offer some beverages while waiting at the check in lobby. *try their strawberry tea… its good and refreshing ^^

Our room was located at the 26 floor of the hotel.. facing the marina bay. Let me tell you… the view is just awesome. I mean… from the video, you can see its pretty cool up there, but, somehow.. its just one of those breathe taking views you get from a city skyline. – Which i couldn’t get from Sydney or even Auckland.

In fact, if you do your research well enough, you probably can get a good view on the fireworks during new years eve or even the national day here in Singapore. and I promise.. the view is going to be spectacular.

By the way, the pillow from the hotel is probably the best pillow EVER. Super comfortable and cozy. I’ve stayed numerous different hotels and only 1 is probably on par with the comfort of the pillow Ritz Carlton offers and that is Intercontinental Shanghai – Though it depends on what kind of “softness” you prefer =P

Ok, I’ll not say much for now… the video below tells its all. Enjoy your weekend.

Recently, I receive one mail from my mail box. Although it is an official looking mail, something which I don’t usually open as the only mails I receive nowadays are bank statements and other insurance stuff. So.. in all cases of being “official”.. they usually have to “wait”…

However, this mail that I receive really “sticks” out and I really wanted to open it up to see whats inside.

Because of the “brilliance” of this mail itself, i decided to shoot a very short video stating how you can use this one idea to create that perception in any of your direct mail campaign.

Let me tell you that it works… and it works like crazy – as it, getting your prospect to open up your marketing message.

So… here’s the short little video I did for you and hopefully, it’ll spun some ideas for your direct mailings =)

One of the craziest thing I ever did was to go trekking in Mount Fuji.

I have been to the 5th station of Mount Fuji twice, and it is probably the highest anyone can ever go.. if you are following tour groups and all… so, I did a little more research on Mount Fuji and realize that one of the most popular activities that visitors can do is to go trekking in Mount Fuji.

So.. I decided that one day, I would do that.

So on my next trip to Japan(Which so happen to be the trekking month (July and August), I brought along my torch, cap, gloves, a wind breaker, and a vest, knowing that it would be cold on the mountain top.

The main attraction for all trekkers is actually the sun rise, which provides a splendid view if you were to watch from Mount Fuji… after all.. it ain’t call the land of the rising sun if it does not live up to it reputation.

So.. with that in mind, the itinerary was set, and I were to start trekking from night till dawn, just so that I will be in time to watch the sun rise at the top of Mount Fuji… considering the average time per station is about an hour.

So from Narita, I took a train to Kawaguchiko. From Kawaguchiko, they offer a bus ride up to the 5th station of Mount Fuji, the highest any vehicle can go to. Thus, from there, if you want to reach the peak and summit of Mount Fuji, you have to go on foot to reaching the 10th Station(Top)

As night set, I took the 10pm bus up to the 5th station, reaching there at about 1030pm.

And so… the journey starts…

Now, the first few stations, 6th and 7th are pretty easy because the trekking routes are pretty straight forward. There are no climbing needed.. and all it takes is just walk.

After that, the trekking starts to get a little more difficult because you will need to climb some large rocks.. which of course is made simpler because there are handles and lines for you to grab on to. But nonethelessit is best that you keep both hands free so as to make the climbing smooth.

So.. don’t be like me… I mean, because I had a hand carry torch, it makes one of my hands unavailable, thus, making the climb a little bit harder. You can see that many climbers are actually wearing this “miner’s helmet”, which has a torch attached to it.. so.. everywhere they look, there is light and at the same time, their hands are free.

I would actually recommend getting that to make the climb easier..

Again, after the 8th station, the tracks starts to get steeper… and the time to reach the next station also becomes longer. This is because, the only way to go up.. is zig zagging up the mountain.. which.. I should say.. is pretty tiring and time consuming.

As I race against time to reach the summit before sun rise, I soon realize that there are a lot of people who are doing the same. These trekkers had actually reached the 8th and 9th station way before me, took a nap in one of the hostels before continuing their journey before dawn.

So… it can be quite packed during the dawn period.. so.. I do suggest you reach the top before the place starts to jam up… yes.. It was literally a jam up there and the pace was just too slow. This was because, many people are staying on top, waiting to see the sun rise like you.. thus.. if they dun move, you dun get to move too.. thus, causing the jam.

Finally… at the top, I saw what i came to see… and I must say… it was beautiful…

…and no words can actually describe the beauty for I struggle to take multiple pictures with my old digital camera, trying to get a great shot for it.

For all the hard work and a night’s sleep, it was well worth it.

However, the route down was tedious and super tiring… as the sun shines right onto you… and the down route was all “zig zagging”… it took forever to reach the 5th station..

That is to say… you walk like 200m, but the decent is only like 10m… and Mount Fuji is sitting at 3776m high… can you imagine the agony ?

Its funny cos I thought that the decent should be easier and more relax.. boy was I wrong..

The night climb was not so bad because it was cooling… but the day… made me agree on the old saying..

“One who never climbs Mount Fuji is a fool, and one who climbs twice is twice the fool….”

So… I am not going to do it again… lol… but the memories of the sun rise on top of Fuji mountain… will forever remain in my heart.

Finally we managed to secure our slot at intercontinental hotel, Singapore for our actual day wedding.

Seriously, was so glad that the whole “ballroom” and “hotel” searching was over. In fact, come to think of it, its pretty funny because we had shortlisted Goodwood park hotel or Intercontinental hotel (reason being.. Intercontinental Hotel, Shanghai’s bed was super comfortable.. haha so.. made me fall in love with the Intercontinental hotel chain) for our actual day long before we decide to get married.

However, as the years goes by, we eventually didn’t want to spend too much on the wedding for we think it is only for show, thus, started searching for many other different hotels and venues. Still.. we came back to Intercontinental…

I remember It was a Monday, It was like.. 4 or 5am and I was comparing our previous wedding hotels and ballrooms, food menus and of course.. the price (We shortlisted Grand Park and Crown Plaza and Novotel).

Eventually, I just thought… well.. why not just pick the one that we really like.. and.. so.. went over to intercontinental to check out their details..

It was like 7am in the morning.. and I went over to my wife and say… “dear.. I’ve decided… we will take intercon”… its funny.. because you can see her surprise look.. cos.. intercontinental was already dropped like ages ago.. and never brought into any of the discussion we had previously.

Immediately, an email was sent and we arranged for a site inspection on the day itself. After seeing the ballroom… I must say.. its simply stunning… a colonial style ball room with no pillars, high ceilings and really beautiful chandeliers…I mean.. you have to see it to believe it..

and its decided.. we are taking Intercontinental… so we sat down with the event manager, David Lim… and started discussion about the packages. Of course.. I already had intercontinental in mind… so.. its really about how to finalize the packages.

David was a very nice and friendly guy… he tries to give his all and fulfill our requests for our actual day… of course, the only thing is that he seems too nice to ask for the “close”, which interesting enough, is the word that me and my wife was actually waiting for him to ask since my wife knew my decision.

So.. If any Intercon Staff found this post since its a High PR site and Show this to David.. hee.. Thanks David, you have been great… =)

We signed and paid the deposit on Saturday once the contract was prepared, ok.. temporary at that point =P but eventually received the actual contract few days later. Glad its done and well… so now.. its on to the planning and all, music hunting, photography etc

and so its decided…. Me and my wife will be holding a wedding banquet…

As of the location, we seriously hope to get what we want… but until then, lets keep this a hush hush because… we have already changed 3 locations.. haha, Novotel, Grand Park and Crown Plaza.. so.. the next one still remains a mystery until proven otherwise.

As we look towards that day, it seems pretty interesting and very exciting… a bit brainstorming here and there because I suppose.. all couples wants it to be perfect… and being the very egoistic person.. I suppose I want it to be far more beautiful and memorable to all my guest who is attending.

While I am traditionally chinese, my thoughts and actions prove to be moving away from chinese traditions because I seriously don’t think they are worth keeping and certainly don’t make any sense at all.

ie, I need to invite relatives whom I don’t exactly like and even some other relatives whom I dun know at all. I mean… what has my wedding got to do with ya if i don’t even know you or that I’ve only seen you once in my life… (and I am paying for it…)

What if.. one day… when I am in trouble or in some critical moments of life.. will you be there or even care ?

I doubt so… so.. why the hell am I inviting you to “share my joy” and sometimes.. even pay for your food when your ang paos dun even cover. I mean.. for those whom I knew and really close to, I dun really mind.. but for those who is a total stranger (never see before or… seen you once when I was 2 years or… relative de relative de relative)… hey.. don’t you think its something that is so stupid and yet many people still follows it ???

Its laughable… and as much as I dun want to, my dad did gave me 6 tables of unknown friends and relatives that needs to be invited. Well.. hes my dad and if that makes him happy(important to me), sometimes… I just have to do it.. even if I dun exactly feel its logical.

I just think that traditionally… so of the practices should be aborted, modified and improved. Traditions may be important but ultimately… its all a “monkey see, monkey do thing”.

Who started it all ? Well.. maybe like few thousand years ago some smart alec or guy start doing it and others just copy and think its nice or appropriate.. gosh… and I guess that spread the tradition and it got passed down as the “right” thing to do..

I mean.. come on.. its not as if some divine being came down and say – “This is the way to do it and you will get the blessings”…

The “inventor” must be laughing his way to see everyone follow him as he becomes the “expert”… funny right ? and whoever says about customs and beliefs.. ya right… have you ever seen someone who spent a fortune getting his auspicious dates calculated by fortune tellers, set up all the “must do” and beliefs… end up divorcing and all…

Still think some old chinese practices are that important ??

Oh by the way… since I am a marketing person… do you know that traditionally, wedding rings don’t come with diamonds and all… it is when someone sells diamonds uses rings as a marketing “ploy” that it somehow shoots up the price of these gems and have all girls going ga ga over them.. becoming a “must have” for all wedding rings.. (Yes… 2mm stones that cost you almost a month of your salary or more)

Well… I am not saying don’t buy la… if it makes your wife happy, get one for her.. afterall she is the one and only.. but what I am trying to say is… some things are started based on “nothing” but people still blindly follow them.. and chinese have many of such practices.

One of the more famous one is “don’t point to the moon or you’ll get your ear cut…” something as absurd as that… now if that gets you thinking who started this “phrase”, maybe.. it’ll get you thinking =)

Well… honestly speaking, banquets are one of these practices (Chinese usually hold banquets because of the village layouts where everybody know each other and invited for sit downs to celebrate.. again.. everybody know each other since its a small village – ie, you dun get some dunno whos who coming).. which is why me and my wife decided to not hold them… but instead, hold a small party for all our friends and relatives whom we care. (Like americans and europeans), which makes more sense..

But after some sparks of fury from her side… and I guess.. some pressure from my mum side and a little of my own ego (spark by my wife side and my side), we decide to go along with one.

and since we will be having one… it has to be perfect… and I foresee a lot of planning and stuff to go on in the next few months…

If you have to do it… do it good… one that people will talk about for years to come…

I really want to share a very though provoking post here and if you happen to find out about this post and read it… it may somehow prove to be very useful down the road.

You know, growing up as an egoistic person and someone who yearns to be the almighty “Mr know all” guy, I used to think that nothing is impossible as long as you are willing to set your heart towards achieving it.

As an Internet Marketer, I have achieve success far greater than many others out there, creating my own stream of residual income so that I don’t have to work anymore…

In fact, I have a belief that if you are not seeking to improve yourself each and everyday, then… what’s the purpose of living for all your life will be a stagnant…

I even have a much greater ambition, earning and making 100 million dollars from the Internet down the years as I set up more niches sites and so on..

Well.. I haven’t achieved that yet… Its just what I thought I want to do..

But over the last few months, after tasting success and enjoying happiness for a brief period of time… I started thinking and came to a new belief…

I remembered that when I got my first sale online and started making 4 figures each and every month on auto pilot.. it was really very exciting and its like, I have achieve what many would envy… But over the course of the next 6 months or so… this “happiness” dies down… and I asked myself something very uncomfortable… “Now what…?”

Sure… The income is still running on auto pilot… and I could have given myself even more pay raise by creating a new niche business… but then.. ultimately.. Will I truly be happy ?

Is that What I am really after ?

Then it struck me… this is not the first time I’ve had this feeling… Back then.. 5 years ago… I though I had got myself the best job in the world… and it is a job many would envy. I was proud, and bold… and after me.. many of my friends pursue and follow after my footsteps..

When I landed the job… I was probably on cloud 9… feeling a sense of satisfaction and wowness from my performance on the Interview… 12 months down the road… again.. “So.. now what…?”

That was the reason why I quit… so as to challenge myself and see how far I can go and grow as a person..

Today, as a successful Internet Marketer… This dreaded feeling struck yet again…

I started thinking more deeply because I know that the money… is really not what I am really pursuing…

If I had 100 million dollars today… sure.. I may have a bigger house, probably get an Audi R8, buy a new house for my parents and send them on vacations… and of course.. retire and go travel round the world with my wife..

Then… again… after I’ve done all that… “Now what..?” Is there really nothing else to look forward to… and if so.. life is going to be so stale..

As I write this post… I have decided to give up all my affiliate business and start thinking about my next step in life. How and what I can do… to really help the people whom I really want to help… How can I bring happiness and contribute to the better of other people’s life…

And yes… my new business will be that stand point…

It will no longer about me nor money… but… a higher purpose in life… something that I can continue to create and share and spread…

Before I pen off… again.. before you pursuit anything in life… stop and ask whats your higher purpose in life… cos if you haven’t… every other thing you do and spend time on… is not worth it… for ultimately… you will find yourself still searching for what you though you wanted.. happiness…

Until then…

Best Regards and Happy New Year
Kenji Tay

I have seen giants fall… people who are millionaires and people whom have seen so much success in life.. much to my despair.

Millionaires who goes bankrupt…

Learn to save and use money wisely, for if you don’t treasure them.. they certainly wun treasure you either.

That is the power and law of attraction.

So.. never take your success for granted. When you achieved something, scale and do more.. never slack off.

Pamper yourself and reward yourself with what you’ve earned… but don’t splurge unnecessarily… you don’t want to be in debt nor do you want to spend more than what you’ve earned.

Don’t forget to give back to the community for what you earn… as wealth is infinite and goes in a loop and cycle.

Always upgrade yourself and don’t fall behind the trend… what works well today may not be working tomorrow. If you don’t step out of your comfort zone, then you are doom to fall.

Know the very fact that when you get or receive your success and rewards… they should be appreciated and treasured. For the truth has always been the fact that you realize how important things will be the moment you lose everything.

Such is the case for many billionaires and successful entrepreneurs who lost everything and came back better than ever, treasuring what they once regarded as “a given”. – Its never easy to come back though, but nothing is impossible.. but its just how strong your courage is.

Nothing in this world is a given, so treasure what you’ve got… and always.. always… Move forward and improve !

Happy 2011 !

Time really flies, and in a blink of an eye, 2010 is over. Well… a lot of people are probably writing down new resolutions and stuffs that they hope to achieve in 2011.

I know resolutions don’t work… but here is a trick to make what you’ve aimed for come true – 100%

Break it into smaller portions and commit an action towards it.

That’s the whole idea…

For example, if you plan and one of your “to-do-list” in 2011 is to go to Italy in October, calculate how much its going to cost you. Say, a typical trip for a single person cost about $4000… so $4000/10 = 400.

Start saving up that $400 every month so that when October comes, you have that $4000 in your bank for the trip.

I know its tough when it comes to saving discipline, but.. that’s going to help you strike off what you really wanted to do in life. Don’t wait till you are 55 or 60 and still hold that “dream of going Italy”… but never had the chance to go..

If one of your resolution is to slim down and lose weight… then.. write down the things, ie your diet and exercise regime.. then commit your action towards it. Trust me.. you’ll slim down when you follow what you’ve written..

Don’t make resolutions but do nothing towards it..

A lot of times, resoultions are just excuses that never come true, and most people will have the same resolution they have in year 2010 and year 2011… because no action was taken towards fulfilling that “resolution”.

Don’t take resolution as an excuse to look forward to a whole new year just to feel good.

Truth is, resolutions can be made any time of the year… and not to wait until the new year.

The important thing is never about resolutions… but rather.. what you want to achieve out of life.

Yes, resolutions can be made.. but it is also important that you “reverse engineer” the outcome and take action towards “striking off” your to do list..

For all you know.. time waits for no one… and you just have to live your life to the fullest.

Just want to wish everyone a very happy 2011, and may your year be filled with love, joy and pink health… most important of all.. GO ROCK IT !!
